In this week’s Contemplative Living Livestream, We look at how our spiritual practice helps us experience the stir of the awakening mind. Through stillness, we begin to create space between ourselves and our thoughts. When we begin to feel the benefits of our awakening mind, we decide how to respond to our egoic mind. One enters the Buddhist path when the “thought of enlightenment” (bodhicitta) has arisen. Once we learn to sit with our breath and be in the present, our lives come into focus. Pauses are just as beneficial as taking a formal meditation seat. Practice sitting and walking meditation in ways that stir the awakening mind. Remember that the spiritual path is delicious fruitful work.
Sit With Our Breath & Be Present
When we’re caught up in the whirlwind of our lives, it’s easy to forget to just be. To sit with our breath and be present. But when we take a moment to do this, we remember what’s really important. We connect with our inner selves and the world around us. We find peace and stillness. It doesn’t have to be for long. Just a few minutes of sitting quietly and focusing on your breath can make a world of difference.
But if you find it hard to sit still, there are other ways to be present. You can take a walk in nature, or simply pay attention to the sensations in your body as you go about your day. The important thing is to take a break from the noise and commotion of life and just be. It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it.
Uncovering Our True Nature
The spiritual path is the process of uncovering our true nature and coming into alignment with our highest purpose. It is a journey of self-discovery and growth, where we learn to let go of what no longer serves us and embrace our authentic selves. We learn to connect with our intuition and trust our inner guidance. We discover our own unique gifts and talents and how to use them in the world. We come to know ourselves as infinite beings of love and light, connected to all that is. This work is not always easy, but it is always worth it. Every step of the way brings us closer to our highest potential and deepest fulfillment.
