I call these altars “Open Shelf Altars” they can be placed in a low or high position, allowing you to place crystals underneath if you wish. The finish on all the altars is a durable clear lacquer. Lacquer is tough. Lacquer remains clear for years, and it penetrates deep, which provides a seal that protects the wood from the inside out.
