From the birds chirping outside our window to the dog wagging its tail at its owner’s arrival home, there is an abundance of joy all around us. We just have to open our hearts and minds to it. When we acknowledge this universal connection between all sentient beings, something magical happens – we begin to see the world through a different lens.
When we talk about authenticity, we are talking about the quality of being genuine and real. It is about being who you are without pretense or artifice. It is about being honest with yourself and others and living your life in a way that is true to your values and beliefs.

Admirable friends complete our spiritual life, bringing the power of companionship when we share our sadness, joys, and fears with each other. Interpersonal connection is just as important for our health as food and exercise; it involves listening closely and showing genuine care through eye contact, touching, and expressions of encouragement. Realizing all our relationships fall within a spectrum of interconnectedness helps us to identify who needs uplifting, who needs direction, and who needs a good chuckle.
The ability to control our attention is key to achieving personal power. Our thoughts and emotions are constantly vying for our attention, but it’s up to us to decide where we focus our mental energy. By intentionally directing our attention towards what truly matters, we can exert greater influence over our own lives.
We often think of awe as something that happens to us when we see something truly breathtaking. However, awe can also be cultivated – and doing so may have some practical benefits. Awe is associated with a sense of vastness and wonderment. When we experience awe, we may feel small and insignificant in comparison to the grandeur of the world around us.
