Connecting To Ancestors Of The Past

In this week’s Contemplative Living podcast, We look at how connecting to ancestors of the past helps us live a better life. Practicing is about discovering ourselves to be in a great, flowing river connecting to ancestors of the past. We are shaped by our ancestors and also by the environments in which they lived. Respecting our ancestors brings us to the flow of the past into the present. Being unfocused expresses itself as a divided self, a self that has forgotten and abandoned the infinity of its being. We think that our ancestors are behind us, but they also go before us.

One of our tasks is to discover how all our ancestors enrich our lives. Our world has been inhabited for tens of thousands of years. Paleolithic peoples worshiped in caves. Neolithic peoples farmed their land. Today, cities, woodland, and fields cover this old ground. Feel the ancestors making themselves known.

We Are Shaped By Our Ancestors

We are all products of our ancestors, and their stories are an essential part of who we are. By connecting with our ancestors, we can better understand ourselves and where we come from. Here are some tips for connecting with your ancestors:

  1. Research your family history. This is a great way to learn about your ancestors and their lives. You can start by talking to older relatives, looking through family records, and searching online databases.
  2. Visit places that are important to your ancestors. If you know where your ancestors lived, worked, or worshipped, visiting these places can help you feel closer to them.
  3. Learn about the times your ancestors lived in. Reading about history can give you a better understanding of what life was like for your ancestors.
  4. Connect with others who are researching their ancestry. There are many online forums and groups dedicated to genealogy research. Talking to other people interested in the same thing can be informative and motivating.
  5. Honor your ancestors in your own way. Whether it’s lighting a candle, saying a prayer, or simply taking a moment to think about them, there are many ways to show respect for your ancestors.

Our Ancestors Are with Us

When we connect with our ancestors, it can feel like they are right there with us. We may feel their presence in a physical way, through a sensation in our body or a sudden urge to do something. We may also see them in our dreams or receive messages from them in our waking life. Our ancestors are always with us, even if we don’t realize it. They are part of our DNA and they guide us from the other side. Our connection to them is strong and we can tap into it whenever we need guidance or support. When we take the time to connect with our ancestors, we open up a channel of communication that can help us understand our past and make decisions for our future.
