Sharpening The Mind

In this week’s Contemplative Living Livestream, We look at how we can begin sharpening the mind. Technology makes us impatient and forgetful. So, let’s build our attention span back up. Our mind is dense with thoughts, emotions, and cognitive content, but when focused on the breath, it narrows, gets sharper and is more precise. Our Mind is increasingly capable of becoming aware of just a thin sliver of experience presenting itself in the present moment. Take time to sharpen your mind. Stillness exercise brings clarity. Enhance your body’s ability to communicate with exercise. If we don’t have clarity, we try to make it up with confidence. Confidence is not a substitute for clarity. We need Clarity. We have no control over what confronts us when we step out our door, except our Clarity of Mind.

We Need Clarity

In our fast-paced, constantly-connected world, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle and feel like our thoughts are all over the place. When we can’t seem to focus on anything, it’s important to take a step back and analyze what might be clouding our minds. There could be a lot of factors contributing to why we feel unclearheaded, but one of the main reasons is likely because we’re not taking the time to declutter our thoughts. Just like physical clutter can make us feel stressed, mental clutter can do the same. And when our minds are cluttered, it’s difficult to focus on anything.

So how can we declutter our thoughts and regain some clarity? One way is to meditate. Meditation allows us to focus on one thing, and let go of all the other distractions cluttering up our mind. It takes practice to learn how to meditate effectively, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to clear your mind and focus on what’s important.Another way to declutter your thoughts is to journal. Writing down your thoughts can help you organize them and figure out what’s really bothering you. Once you see your thoughts written out in front of you, it might be easier to let go of them and move on.If you’re having trouble regaining some clarity in your life, try these tips and see if they help to sharpen the mind!

We Have No Control Over What Confronts Us

We all know that feeling: you’re going about your day, minding your own business, when suddenly something pops up that totally blindsides you. It might be an unexpected bill, a piece of bad news, or just a stressful situation at work. Whatever it is, it throws you for a loop and makes you feel totally out of control. It’s natural to feel this way when we’re faced with something unexpected. But it’s important to remember that we always have some degree of control over how we react to these situations. We can’t always control what life throws at us, but we can control how we deal with it.

So the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed by what’s happening around you, Take a breath, take a step back and remember that you have the power to choose your reaction. You might not be able to control everything in your life, but you can always control how you handle it.
